WHO WE ARE

WHERE WE STARTED

In 2015 Jesse Fry opened a music school for the community in the heart of Old Downtown Carrollton, TX. One of the defining aspects of the studio was its 6 keyboard lab, a place where lessons met affordability. The mission of the Music Institute has always been to make instrumental lessons accessible to people regardless of their personal goals for learning. We are proud that our teachers have been able to tailor lessons for the individual -- meeting students where they are when they walk through our doors.

The Music Institute has always sought to give students both a strong foundation in music, and to instill in them a genuine love of music. We are, and always have been, committed equally to both goals! Our teachers work hard to give students the proper tools for success, and they are masters of allowing students to flourish each in their own unique way.

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

With music education at its core, and under a new name MAKE: Music and Creative Arts Studio now seeks to expand into a wider arena of the arts. Rachel Yarborough became director of The Music Institute in 2019, and has been the mastermind behind implementing a new vision to grow the creative community in and around Carrollton, TX. Complete with a new workshop space for local artists to teach their expert skills -- each their own artistic discipline. In this new venture at MAKE, we believe that there is no limit to what our students and class participants will learn and make. We also believe that creativity is essential to life. As a musician and maker, Rachel continually finds satisfaction in each respective (and very different) avenue of creativity. The Music Institute has always sought to give students both a strong foundation in music, and to instill in them a genuine love of music. We are, and always have been, committed equally to both goals! Our teachers work hard to give students the proper tools for success, and they are masters of allowing students to flourish each in their own unique way.

WHO WE ARE

Jesse Fry and Rachel Yarborough are both graduates of the Piano Performance and Pedagogy masters program at Southern Methodist University. Their teaching partnership traces back to 2009 when they both taught group classes and private lessons to students at SMU’s Institute for Young Pianists (IYP). Since then Jesse and Rachel have taught countless summer piano camps. The joy is found not only in making music, but also in sharing their skills and passion with students who are eager to learn.
