Intro to Handbuilding Ceramics
Two Sessions: Sundays @ 2:00 PM April 24 & May 1
- 128 US dollars$128
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and play with clay! In part one of this workshop (3 hrs), you will learn foundational handbuilding skills and an interesting approach to surface decoration to create your own ceramic mug. For part two of this workshop (1 hr), you will glaze your piece from class one to have fully functional works of art that you'll use and cherish forever! Before the workshop begins, you will need to brainstorm and sketch out your surface decoration, as this will be the first step on your pottery journey! Be prepared to draw the outline of your design at the beginning of our first session in prep for the slip transfer design that we'll be making to apply to the clay piece. Here are some ideas of imagery that you may choose to include in your design: nature, plants, abstract, etc... These are just suggestions, and we encourage you to use any imagery that reflects you and what you'll enjoy for the long term. Images of our most recent class pieces are included in the registration gallery below. Feel free to scroll down and get some ideas of what to include on your surface design. All MAKE workshops are MAKE + TAKE! Registration fee covers class time as well as all materials used in class. All you need to bring is yourself and your creative energy!
