Explore, Discover, Create is a discovery-based experience that fosters a student's understanding of music fundamentals in a fun and creative way. Class sessions will consist of musical based movement, group discovery, and small group centers covering beginning musical knowledge such as rhythm, feeling the beat, and note reading -- all the essential tools for a student as they grow and prepare for private instrument study. In addition to the basics class will include aural enrichment. This exploration of sound will introduce young students to some of the great composers such as Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, who is known for compositions that are filled with sound coloring providing vivid musical imagery; French composer Camille Saint-Saëns who wrote Carnival of the Animals; and Sergei Prokofiev who composed the children's classic Peter and the Wolf. Students will enjoy listening and participating in interactive activities as they walk through these composers' best known works.
